Connect to http://www.redhat.com/.
In the upper right corner, SEARCH for "samba".
Look for one that refers to RHL9. Follow instructions.
[The following may or may not work: http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-9-Manual/custom-guide/ch-samba.html ]
On XP side, click "MY NETWORK PLACES". The left-most panel will have a box headed "Network Tasks" -- click "View workgroup computers". [If you don't have this left panel, then click "Folders" in the "Standard" toolbar.]
I saw the host names of other Win computers in my WORKGROUP, and [AT LAST!], I saw "samba server (Woody)". After dble-clicking this, I was shown a login box -- I entered my "samba username" and "password" -- see doc re setting up samba on linux box. I was able to view my home directory on Linux box as well as /home/public directory I had made for samba.
Some things that did NOT help were LinNeighborhood and WebAdmin (?similar?). Surely this info is available on the RH9 documentation CD, but I haven't found it yet.
