I am this close to smashing my pc off my desk and going back to reading, or better yet, suicide. It's been three weeks and I still can not get my cable modem working through Mandrake. My ISP fully supports DHCP and IP allocation. In Windows assigning my computer a hostname is enough to have it allocated an IP address and allowing me online access. I've tried enabling DHCP support in Drake and leaving all the fields blank but I receive an error message 'Determining IP information for eth0 via DHCPCD failed' So I fill in all the fields using the information I obtained from running winipcfg in Windows. Neither of these processes work at all. This is rediculous. I''ve run out of ideas and am considering trying yet another distro (redhat 7 also failed to work). Or even worse, getting rid of Linux all together. there has to be someone who can give me the heads up on this problem.
I'm desperate.
