Just a few pointless wonderings about SuSE:

How is it pronounced? (soosee? soos?)

What does it stand for?

From the link.

Answer number 1: It used to stand for something, but now it doesn't. That's why it used to be S.u.S.E. and now it's SuSE. You can search in vain at www.suse.com for an explanation. It's not there.

The information has since been removed. In other words they've removed the "fun facts" and replaced it with something a little more serious. See here (http://www.suse.com/us/company/press/services/information/company/factsheet.html)

Answer number 2: In an interview with one of the SuSE developers I found it originally stood for System und Software Entwicklung, which is German for "System and software development".

Actually it's Software and System Development. Got it backwards their chief.

It's pronounced soo-suh or soo-sah. However, the universal pronounciation (based on latin vowels) soo-say is often acceptable. Some have been so bold as to pronounce it soo-see. They are idiots.
