Well I decided to try to upgrade to woody over the weekend so I followed the instructions that were given to me by the apt bot on #debian. I changed all mentions of "stable" or "potato" to "woody" in my /etc/apt/sources.list. Then I proceded to do an apt-get update. Lo and behold I get this:
->johngalt:/home/turbo# apt-get update
->Hit http://non-us.debian.org woody/non-US/main Packages
->Hit http://security.debian.org stable/updates/main Packages
->Get:1 http://http.us.debian.org woody/main Packages [1015kB]
