I'd like to compile the 2.4 kernel and am using menuconfig but I'm not seeing anything for my 3c905 network card, I see a 509, but no 905. Does anyone know which one will work for this card? Would I be better with it as a module or compiling it in?
Thanks! :)

I *think* the driver you want is called 'tulip.o'. It's pretty standard across distros. If you have redhat, you can actually pick the driver for your NIC from a dropdown list in Linuxconf (about all linuxconf is good for), and tulip.o will be in there.

Hmmmm I'll give the tulip set a try here soon. I thought they were for another brand (linksys maybe?) but its worth a shot. The card did work before the compile, but won't afterwards....yes I did make and install the modules too....my soundblaster works even....just no network :(

this is the driver you need. it is the 3c59x.o module
type H for this option and you will find the 905 listed as one of the chipsets.
