is a "type II Cardbus" the same as PCMCIA? I want to buy this (http://www.echoindigo.com/content/info/techspecs.html) and was wondering if it is. Just a bit paranoid, thanks

A cardbus slot is backwards compatible with PCMCIA, but a PCMCIA slot is not upwards compatible with cardbus. All new laptops and most older ones now have cardbus slots. pmrphs2002 06-03-2003, 03:14 PM So if your laptop has cardbus, youre fine. If its older, than that card wont work. justlinux.com
