is a "type II Cardbus" the same as PCMCIA? I want to buy this (http://www.echoindigo.com/content/info/techspecs.html) and was wondering if it is. Just a bit paranoid, thanks

short answer: yes and no.

long answer: the PCMCIA bus is a 16 bit wide bus for laptops that is mechanically similar to cardbus which is 32 bits wide. A cardbus slot is backwards compatible with PCMCIA, but a PCMCIA slot is not upwards compatible with cardbus. All new laptops and most older ones now have cardbus slots.

So if your laptop has cardbus, youre fine. If its older, than that card wont work.
