I don't like GRUB at all (because i am not used to it). I can't /sbin/lilo though, because my harddrives (and obviously MBR for hdf) are on a separate ide controller (promise UDMA 100). I don't like booting by typing in my parameters (ide2=0xXXXX,0xXXXX, etc..). I want to install lilo rather than grub so that i can edit the 'append' section to enter the params automatically for me. Can i do this with GRUB????

Did you try using the append switch for LILO to get it to automatically put that ide2=0xXXXX,0xXXXX upon bootup?

I can't even install lilo on my mbr because klilo doesn't find it, and same thing with /sbin/lilo. It keeps giving me this error saying lilo could not be written to disk. I am sure this is because it does not know where to look for the MBR.

Oh sorry, my bad. It's late. Didn't see that you are trying to install LILO. I'll shutup now.
