Surfing mozilla with gnome is much faster than kde with rh9.0. I mean quite faster. Did anybody observe the same thing? :p

I would have said BOTH surfing and starting mozilla in gnome is much faster than in kde.

Isn't everything just slower with KDE? :)

There are people that will argue the other way on this, but the best argument is KDE and Gnome are slow and something like Fluxbox will blow them both away :)

That's what I want to find out. Experiences. And Mahdi, remember, I mentioned redhat 9.0 and no other distro else. One thing that may relevant is redhat has been promoting GNOME since when I don't even remember.

Anyway, I also use fluxbox. It is fast but only comparable not significantly faster and it lacks a lot of things. But that is in gentoo. :p

the loading faster is probably because any GTK stuff it needs is already loaded when using a Gnome Desktop. in any case, if this is true then Opera "should" load faster on a KDE desktop since it is built with QT.

(ps - if you want really under Gnome then use galeon 1.3.x instead of mozilla. XUL Interface (Moz) = slow. GTK Interface (Gal) = fast.)

I'm using KDE in Suse 8.2, even though I'm a Gnome man at heart. Konqueror, while a great file browser, just seems to be too slow at rendering images on a webpage, handling mulitple tabs.

Galeon is very nice, very quick, and mozilla isn't too far behind in the speed department. Both run circles around Konquerer in speed IMO.
