I installed StarOffice in:
/usr/local/programs/staroffice52
as root (ie. ran the executable as root).
No I can run soffice as root but I cant as my normal user.
I tried changed the permissions of user/sofficerc but that doesnt seem to work.
Any other ideas?
thanks in advance!
I'm using: Slack8 kernel 2.4.5

Just a stab in the dark... Did you do the network install? Read the README that comes with StarOffice... it might help clear it up.

I've had the same problem. It seems to me that star office likes to install only for one user. I haven't tried the network install, so I don't know there. But I think you have to run the install script for each user who needs it. It's annoying and space consuming, so I use other office products :)
BTW, it does the same thing in windows NT (and 2k) where different users can have personalized menus. I think it's just how the software works.
