I know it's been done a million times before, but this is my first time.

My computer (Mandrake 9.0) is running in my bedroom, connected to the internet via kppp. Im on the kids computer using WindowsMe. My computer is doing the firewall/ip-masquerading.

The good thing is I can go to http://www.dslreports.com/scan or www.grc.com and do a scan and my computer is stealth even with the windows firewall (Zonealarm) turned off.

Yeah! Linux Rocks! This is not the result of "Point and click!" I did some serious reading and then some.

Isn't it nice? One thing I always say though -if the lock is electric... and the electricity is on -then there is always some way to get in.

I just think it's really cool, my first firewall/router.

my windows xp computer however had some open ports. Thats an understatement. Did you fix the security hole that lets anyone on the internet delete everything off your hard drive?

Yeah... I just ran the dsl reports scan on my drive... Just as I suspected... two open ports:

SSH
FTP

That's all I'm supposed to have open. :D
