Installing Doom..

Hi Folks,

I am having problems installing Doom on Red Hat. The problem is I don't know how to do it. The file that I downloaded is a .tar file, and when I click on that it opens up a new directory which is Doom-1.8. Within that is a bunch of files and the readme says that "xdoom" is the X executable. But god knows how I then install it.

As you may have gathered, I'm kind of a Linux novice.

maybe you could begin with extracting the tar file (tar -xvf file_you_want.tar), then read the README file and doing what it tells you ... You should try to run the executable in a shell (you go in the right directory, and then you type ./Name_of_file &)
