NEWBIE ALERT!!
How do I access my floppy or cd drives in Linux? I use Mandrake 7.2/gnome--where do i go to open up a floppy/cd?

Right click on your desk top and do a scan for new system devices.
If Mandrake installed like the last time I installed it, it should have automagically included the stuff to mount those.
If not, read the NHF.

You have to mount them ... To do that, you have to check your /etc/fstab file and see if you have a line beginning with /dev/fd0 and another one beginning with your CD location (for me, it is /dev/hdd). If you don't have this, you'll have to edit this file (read the man page or the NHF). You have to type mount then, and it should put your CD and your floppy in the root tree. You can access them as if they were just directories !

What mandrake normaly does is put the floppy drive and cd drive under a directory called /mnt
Double click on the home directory on the desktop. Now, in the directory tree on the left hand side of the window that opens, click the folder labeled "mnt" Your Floppy drive should be the directory called floppy and your cd should be cdrom.
If you have any windows partitions on your system, they should be win_c...win_d ect.
