ok, I've followed the details of the NHF on booting using loadlin(scared of the MBR after fiddling with it once!). I got a linux partition on my 13gig drive(not all of it under 1024th cylinder) and the Loadlin menu comes up nicely etc. NOW win98 boots from this is ok, but the boot to linux just doesn't! That too goes to win98(so I have a menu that offers a rock and a hard place). Booting off a floppy is fine(bypassing loadlin altogether), but its a bit of a pain. Caldera is what I'm trying to get running off this boot up, any ideas???

You might find it useful to read the loadlin HOWTO at www.linuxdoc.org (http://www.linuxdoc.org) A couple of possibilities occur to me: You do not have vmlinuz or whatever you call your kernel copied to your win 98 root directory, if that's where your linux.bat says it should be, or your linux.bat file does not specify the right linux partition to boot to.

Why won't it write the symbolic link to the dos partition, or even a dos disk??? Why?
