Radeon 8500 in slack

I'm running slackware 9, and am trying to get the drivers from ati to work, but when i try to install the package I get these errors:

Looks to me like you didn't install all your development libraries. Make sure you install all the D and XD series packages.

I'm no expert, though. If I'm wrong, at least you get a <bump>.
