There are many applications that have a link to the app's home page. When I click on the link, it always uses Netscape to view these pages. How to I change it to use another browser (ie. Opera) as the default browser? Thanks

You need to change your file associations. Im guessing your using KDE? Look around in the control panel, its there somewhere.

if you are using KDE go to Preferences in the Kmenu, File Browsing\File Associations, in File Asociations you can change the default for web browsing, in the tree open "text' then look for HTML and in there you can change the default application for web browsing...

personally i only use Konqueror, or Mozilla, i refuse to let Netscape even get installed in my Linux compooter, even the Linux Distros are about to abandon Netscape, a few years ago before AOL bought Netscape it was a good browser, i have a old copy of Netscape 4.06 (in win98) and it is just as fast and stable as IE 5 in Windows, seems like the newer versions are just more bloated and buggy, and i am not real sure of the quality of Mozilla anymore...

if you have good luck with Opera i would make that the default in File associacions...

Yeah, I'm using 4.7x and besides being slow and bloated, it has all these little things that eat away at the quality of netscape. Personal I've been very pleased with Opera.

that version of netscape blows like you wouldn't believe in linux. The best I've seen so far is netscape 6.1, not 6.0, most buggiest pos I've seen

Agreed, blows. I would stick with Konqueror in your enviornment. Just don't forget to get the 1.3 JRE from blackdown.org for it.
