I am getting ready to install a new fileserver at work. It will be used to store ghost images and installation software for our tech department. I purchased the server with two NICs in hopes that I could utilize them both so I would have bandwidth problems when techs are pulling multiple images off the server at one time.
The server will be running either Redhat or Mandrake and using Samba. I need some information on where to look for implementing two NICs. Is there some way to bind the two NICs together, so they act as one larger pipe? or can they be setup to do load-balancing so when one NIC is in use, it will automatically default to the second, or vice-versa?
If anybody has experience with this, or can point me to a HowTo I'd really appreciate it.
