i downloaded the redhat 7.1 i386 isos (1 and 2 + powertools) and burned them to discs. popped disc 1 into the cdrom bootable computer and did not get an install. is this normal ? should i create a rh bootdisk first ?
my only recent linux install was mandrake 8.1 which was extremely easy.

Try using a boot disk. If something goes wrong during the install when reading from the CD, then the ISO is probably corrupted or burned wrong.

i just found somethng called md5summer online to check the numbers that came with the isos; think i will see if this will help, then possibly try the boot disk.

thanks, x
