Im trying to run a mud on my linux box(Redhat 9.0) (Mud Driver: LDmud3.2.1 & Mudlib: LPmud2.4.5)... I configured it to run on port 23(i can pick ANY port), so users would just have to telnet to my ip on port 23, and connect to it... The problem is that Im on a home network, and connected to the outside world through a router(DLINK DI-604 Router[version A]), and im having a very hard time opening port 23 and getting people to connect. Ive tried everything from configuring my linux firewall, to setting up virtual severs for various ports in my router setup... I still cant connect to the mud!
If I telnet to 'localhost 23' in a linux terminal, i connect fine. if i telnet to "my WAN IP 23" It refuses the connection... I DO get a connection if i connect through ports such as 80, 1080, etc... but NOT to the MUD(which I would like). If anyone has any experience with this, I would very much appreciate the help, as I would like to get this mud up and running asap!
Thanks alot.
