i have drivers for a specific piece of hardware of mine, they were hard to come by and impossible to duplicate. i had to copile them myself. i can get them to work in redhat 7.3 and lower, but not 8.0 and higher, i have tried to get them to work and recompiled them in 9.0, but when i run insmod, it tells me that the kernel was compiled gcc 3, and the drivers were compiled in gcc 2, but i only have gcc 3 on my machine.
am i doing something wrong? is there a way i can get them to compile in 3 instead of two? i would really like to get this driver to work. if you can give me any help, i would appriciate it.

thanks,
transhour

Looks like your drivers weren't only compiled by you. It looks like there's a piece that was compiled by you, then linked against a precompiled piece.

If that's the case, then there's nothing you can do except complain to the people that distribute your drivers.
