as there are logs for everything under the sun these days

are there apps in x available as a frontend for viewing these logs?

i was looking for recommendations, freshmeat is a resource but i could sit there all day trying out different apps and not liking them, people's opinion is stronger than the sales pitch freshmeat gives

The logs are just text files, so any text editor should view them. I don't belive xemacs will do exactly what you want to do...its hard to tell since you were kinda vauge in your original message.
