konqueror association problem

Hi I'm having a problem with konqueror web browser. I opened a local html file with it and told it to remember the association, but since then it wont display any html file, and I get an error saying:

"There appears to be a configuration error. You have associated Konqueror with text/html, but it can't handle this file type."

How can I correct this and get konqueror web browser running correctly again?

I suppose you use some recent version of KDE and Konqueror, mine is KDE 3.1.1, you can check yours in KDE Control Center.

First check the file association, here:

KDE Control Center > KDE Components > File Associations > text > html

my configuration (the default or at least the SuSE 8.2 default is):

File Name Patters:
*.html
*.HTML
*.htm
*.HTM

Description: (it's safe to change)
HTML Page

Application Preference Order: (the first one really matters)
Konqueror
Quanta Plus

then there is a tab called Embedding, maybe the problem is there

Left click action:
Show file in embedded viewer

Service Preference Order:
KHTML
Embedded Advanced Editor
KMozilla

check these, and tell us what you come up with.

Hi

I just ckecked those and they all seem fine, but stil when I try to get on to a website it prompt me to chose save or open, I chose open and I get that error again :(

And yeah I am running KDE 3.1.1 and my OS is Debian testing/unstable installed using knoppix.

I dont know why this happened or how to restore it, anybody with any other ideas?

oh hang on, I've got it, the Application Preference Order went


Application Preference Order:
Konqueror Web Browser
Konqueror

removed Konqueror web browser and all solved.

..well so I thought, but it's still doing. Konqueror works fine under different user accounts, but under mine it refuses to open html pages whatever i try to change in the control center. I also mucked up somehow in there and now it wont open from icons, just from the terminal!

Is there anyway I can reset konqueror, make it forget all the user settings?
