Hi: I have installed and played with Corel 2.0 and Mandrake 7 and would like to try Suse7.2 or 7.3 (I guess its due out any time)
Finding the Intel based ISO on Suse's FTP site is a bit more confusing than Mandrakes but best I can tell its at:
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/live-eval-7.2/:/pub/suse/i386/current/liveeval_int.iso
Do I have that correct?
Also what is the deal with the live-eval version?
Is this a complete install or not?
Does it time out?
TIA, any advice or comments in regards to this disto by a newbie will be greatly appreciated.

Live Eval means it runs from CD only.
You can download ISOs here: http://www.linuxiso.org/suse.html

Hal: Thanks for the reply.
I went to that link and can't find a Suse download ISO that says it is an installable version.
When they say runs from CD only, I assume they mean you actually run the OS directly from the CD and don't install to a hard drive?
It would seem to me that this would be extremely slow.
Is there not a free download version of Suse that I can install on my Intel system like I did with Mandrake 7?
Also is there somewhere to download the documentation for Suse?
What disto for use by a newbie you reccomend?
I want something thats easy to use and configure.
Thanks again.
Depending internet connection you could downloads and create SuSe boot disk and do an FTP install of it.

I hear RedHat 7.2 is easy to configure. Never tried it though.

Unfortunately where I live in I am stuck at a 26.4 dialup so an FTP install is not going to work.
I have a much faster connection at work so I usually pull down a CD image there on my laptop, xfer to my desktop, burn then install.
If thats all I can get from Suse maybe I should give RedHat 7.2 a try. Looks like the ISO images are readily available.

If you want installation CDs for SuSE you will have to buy the boxed package. It's a nice distribution, and I guess you should probably have at least one boxed distribution with manuals if you are serious about Linux.
You might also like to try the new Mandrake (has come on leaps and bounds since 7.0), or Slackware 8.0. People say Slackware is hard to configure, but if you have your hardware details and follow instructions it is a doddle.
