This has been a nuisance for too long. I run an ipchains firewall just so that my workstation won't be open to the world. The problem is with my exim mailer. It won't accept mail until I take my firewall down. Does anyone know what the standard port is that accepts mail so that I can open it and close the others? It really gets annoying having to put up and take down this firewall all the time. Thanks.

Here are the standard SMTP and POP ports which are used to send and receive email.

SMTP - 25
POP - 110

Try opening these up and see if this solves your problem.
