I did a search and turned up the possibility that one can change their status (junior grasshopper, etc) with a custom text. How is this done? :cool:

You have to reach a certain number of posts before you can do that.

You need 500 posts or you can pm all the mod's until they let you change it.

Or not. The real number of posts you have to achieve is far lower than that. The numbers 25 and 40 spring to mind, and I can't remember which one is closer to the truth.

Anyway- the magic number of posts needed to add your own custom avatar is 25. I can't remember what (if any) limit there is for custom text, but I would think it would be 25 also.

To actually make the change, click on the "user cp" button at the top of the page to access your personal profile and choose the "edit profile" option. The "custom user text" field is near the bottom of that page.

I think you become a "Senior Grasshopper" at 100 posts and that is when you can change the text under your name.

After 25 posts the mods pick a picture for you that matches your personality. After 50 posts they make up some random saying and post it underneath your picture. That's how I ended up with Domo-Kun and #mount all. After 2000 posts they will remove the hash mark in front of "mount all" and everything in the entire universe will mount, thus Calf. falling into the ocean, dogs and cats living together, Domo-Kun will fart, etc...

This site has changed a bit over the years, but 100 posts did used to be the point at which you reached "Senior Grasshopper" and it may still be. I've been here so long that I really can't remember if the 100-post mark is also what you need to achieve before you can alter your custom text.
