Hey Gang, I just downloaded RH7.2. I'm thinking of giving it a whirl. Anybody up & running yet? What does everyone think so far?

What does everyone think so far? subnet_rx 10-24-2001, 02:00 PM I'm enjoying it, but I think the reason no one has answered is b/c this has been talked about again and again. Red Hat is great, what else is new. Icarus 10-24-2001, 02:14 PM I"m still trying to download it...I was only able to find it on ftp.redhat.com but all the mirrors listed don't seem to have it :( So with any luck it will be done by the time I get home so I can re-install my server with it! If anyone knows of a good and reliable mirror I'd love to know it! SynapticBurst 10-24-2001, 02:41 PM RedHat 7.2 has easier installations than previous versions. Greater support for ext3 filesystems is also a bonus (journaling fs reduces damage inherent in most crashes.) Get it, try it out, I'm sure you'll be impressed with how smoothly it runs. With regards to mirror sites, it all depends on which city you live in, ex I'm in houston, and i'm getting 600kb/s+ transfers from Rice University. Checkout linux.tucows.com, as they usually have a good number of fast mirror sites. Good luck! SynapticBurst 10-24-2001, 02:43 PM Forgot to mention... About that whole "ext3 reducing damage from crashes" thing... Linux DOESN'T crash :) chadm1967 10-24-2001, 02:50 PM mahdi, It's on most of the mirrors. It's actually listed under the "linux" folder. It is kind of hard to find - not sure why they did it that way. justlinux.com
